About

Estann: an art-photographer combining technical rigour and creative freedom.

Art-Photographer,, member of the Union of Professional Photographers of France, Estann - artistic pseudonym of concert pianist Sebastian Ené - has been developing a demanding and unique photographic approach for more than ten years, fuelled by a constant dialogue between abstract imagination and technical precision.

Dedicated to thematic series, artistic portraits, and illustrations, he explores the boundaries of visual art by various technics, most of which are realised in-camera. He deliberately prioritises a meticulous work on colorimetry and textures, over other graphic post-process manipulations, resulting in an expressive body of work destined for exhibition prints.

In his Opus 1 and Opus 2 projects, Estann questions the codes of traditional photography, using the sensor's sensitivity as if it were a brush of light. The choice of manual lenses from the 1970s and 1980s, renowned for their unique colour rendering, long shaped his vision, particularly when the end result was meant to be printed on matte exhibition paper.

Today, his palette has been enriched by contemporary tools such as the latest generation of cameras and lenses, and high-performance software, allowing him to explore a variety of genres: street photography, advertising portraits, urban and rural landscapes.

His works – exploratory, often unconventional – are produced in limited editions, affirming an approach where technical rigour and a unique perspective are one. An artistic vision somewhat reminiscent of the painters of older times.

Between visual creation, educational transmission and artistic collaborations, Estann embodies a free, thoughtful and resolutely contemporary photography, where each image is born from a quest for authenticity and innovation.
